Instructor: Kevin Jewell
Beginning French - Part 2 will provide participants with continued experience with the French language, introducing additional conversational topics, vocabulary, grammar, and syntax. This second workshop, while geared mainly to continuing the work of the first one, will also be designed to accommodate participants who did not take the first workshop, but who have previously studied some French and wish to refamiliarize themselves with the language without beginning from scratch. Each workshop will also cover subjects such as culture and the historical background of the language. Since conversational ability is the goal, participants will have frequent opportunities to speak French, and to ask questions about issues of interest to them. Asynchronous learning opportunities will be provided through PowerPoint presentations, videos, and handouts which participants may review when convenient to them, as well as practice using the CD provided with the textbook and/or audio files available at Canvas which are geared towards what the students are learning.
Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. A device to capture images (digital camera, smart phone, or tablet, etc.) is helpful, but not required.
Kevin Jewell is a recently retired attorney who also held a California credential to teach French in high school. Kevin also teaches Irish for City Extension and is fluent in several other languages. He previously taught this class at CCSF Extension live in Fall 2019 semester.
