Shakespeare in Ashland

June 22nd- July 20th, 2026, Mondays, 6pm-7:30pm, 5 sessions online on Zoom

July 30th- August 2nd, 2026, Four days of plays in Ashland, Oregon 

Join us in celebrating the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon!

Taught by actor and educator Tyrone Wilson, this online and travel workshop will deepen your understanding of five plays including, King Hedley II, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Emma, Henry IV Part One, Taming of the Shrew.

The first section of the workshop will meet online, June 22nd- July 20th on Zoom. There students will learn more about the plays and take a deep dive into some of Shakespeare's best loved works through reading, discussion, and instructor presentations. The production values of the various plays will also be discussed.

From July 30th- August 2nd, students will be immersed in the world-famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. Included in the trip: ticketed theater seating for the five plays discussed in class; conference housing in a double room at Southern Oregon University with daily breakfast. There will also be some optional community activities in Ashland including a no host dinner together on Friday night, a talkback with actors as well as a preface to one of the plays.

Not included: travel to Ashland, transportation within Ashland, and campus parking (parking permits are available for $10/day or $30/week).

Instructor Bio: Tyrone Wilson is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama where he received his MFA in Acting and Middlebury College earning a BA Honor Degrees in Theatre and Psychology. He has appeared in several films including Privilege; Directed by Yvonne Rainer, The Super with Joe Pesci and Stone Soup with Grace Zabriskie. Theatre audiences have seen Tyrone in the European Tour of Ajax directed by Peter Sellars, on Broadway in Lettice and Lovage with Maggie Smith and the US Tour with Julie Harris. Off Broadway he performed with the Theatre for New Audience, New York Public Theater and Circle Repertory Theatre. Tyrone has performed at numerous Regional Theatres. In 30 seasons at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Mr. Wilson has performed over 70 roles in nearly 50 productions.
