Taking inspiration from contemporary and historic artists such as Francis Alÿs, Richard Long, Hamish Fulton, Janet Cardiff, and the Situationist International who use walking in their creative practice, we’ll walk out in the world with fresh eyes. Students will take weekly walks, documenting their routes using camera or video. In each meeting we will discuss our individual experiences and brainstorm together, helping develop each student’s project from collected images and sound. Students will document and edit their wandering projects using different programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator and Premiere Pro and discuss how documentation, through photography and video, can make a transitory experience permanent. There will be one-on-one discussions to solve any technical issues as well as video tutorials.

Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device.

Students must have access to computer and adobe suite for the workshop (The monthly Adobe program educational fee is $19.99). In order to fulfil the workshop, students need to have a camera or a smartphone to document the walks. Notebook, paper for drafting ideas and take notes during the Zoom meetings.
