Cinema is not just narrative, nor even film. Cinema is a language and philosophy in itself. So much so that we use the terms "like a film or movie” to describe anything more real than our everyday experience. Experimental Cinema Expanded will create a lab of experimentation for students with introductions to techniques with your phone, projections, super8, and the exploration of sound as a synesthesic experience. This course will meet for five weeks at 3 hours per session. A screening and gallery show will follow, open to the public. Each class meeting combines the introduction to contemporary and historical artists working in the medium, technical instruction, and open lab.
