In this five week workshop, you will learn how to set up and optimize your Instagram account so that you can market your product, service, project or organization through photo and video-based short storytelling. You will learn how to combine visual storytelling, copywriting, and search engine optimization (SEO) so that you can appeal to Instagram’s algorithm and your desired audience at the same time. Each week, you will be provided with a weekly assignment that will help you hone your message into effective posts. You will have the opportunity to receive supportive feedback about your work. This workshop is ideal for students seeking to understand Instagram within the context of social media marketing. Newbies as well as current Instagram users are welcome.
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to 1) understand and post to all six content areas of the app 2) understand and communicate your brand's unique value proposition 3) develop an audience that is engaged with your offer.
Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. A device to capture images (digital camera, smart phone, or tablet, etc.) is helpful, but not required.
