Filipino Food 101: ADOBO: Cooking with Soy and Vinegar

6/26/2025, Thursdays, 5pm-8pm

Location: Ocean Campus, Statler Wing 012

Instructor: Dominic Ainza

Join us for an immersive culinary journey as we explore the rich flavors and techniques of Adobo, the Philippines' national dish. In this engaging cooking class, you'll discover that Adobo is not only a dish, but a cooking method that showcases the versatility of soy sauce and vinegar in Philippine food culture.

All tools and supplies will be available for this class. However, if you would like to bring your own apron and chef knife, you are more than welcome to.
 
Comfortable, closed toe shoes and for anyone with long hair, hair tie or a hat. Hair nets will be provided if needed.
 
Instructor Bio: "I'm just a cook" with a passion for elevating cuisine closest to his heart. A former youth counselor turned chef, Dominic Ainza graduated from California Culinary Academy and honed his skills in award-winning kitchens (Betelnut, Poleng Lounge, Red Lantern, Attic) and his own restaurant, Mercury Lounge.
 
His cuisine blends tradition with modern flavors, reflecting the Bay Area's diverse culinary landscape. "I represent history, culture, and family with every dish, ensuring integrity and authenticity."
