Instructor: Dominic Ripoli, Esq.
This 4 session workshop offers City of San Francisco Equity applicants the opportunity to examine cannabis as an equity issue. We will define equity and its relationship to cannabis, examine the criminalization of cannabis, the impact of cannabis regulations on communities of color, and the ways cities and legislators are working within the cannabis industry to repair the damage done by the “war on drugs.” This workshop will also give insight into the city of San Francisco’s cannabis equity program, with an overview of how to qualify and how to become an equity applicant.
Instructor Bio: California native Dominic Ripoli grew up in Pittsburg and Antioch, CA, and attended Diablo Valley College before he transferred to Howard University in Washington, DC. He then returned to the Bay Area to attend Golden Gate School of Law in San Francisco. While serving as President of Golden Gate University School of Law chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy, Dominic attended Drug Policy Alliance Reform Conference in Denver, Colorado and he became an activist.
After he graduated law school in 2015, he began a career as a cannabis legal consultant, passing the California bar in 2017. Dominic created Elevated Consulting, a law practice where both clients and cannabis are protected and valued, and the harm caused by the War on Drugs can be undone. With a focus on "Cannabis Equity Clients", Elevated Consulting hopes to meet the demands for professional and legal services needed by cannabis equity applicants by providing modest means and lo-bono fees to provide the necessary technical assistance to navigate through state and local bureaucracies.
This workshop is open to all and a requirement for those completing the Cannabis Business Administration Badge Track at CCSF.
Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device.
