Walking as Art

Location: The first walking location will be emailed to students before the first meeting. Final meeting will be online for review and critique.

Instructor: Minoosh Zomorodinia

How can we use walking to document a particular time and place in history?

In this workshop we will walk together and use our experience to create art. Each session will begin with a prompt from the instructor, and we will use photography as a tool to document our walking routes in creative ways. We will watch and observe the environment while sharing and talking about our individual experiences. This workshop will meet in various locations in San Francisco. Each week we will collectively choose a new site to experience through walking, then return to the classroom to show and discuss our work. Students should be prepared to walk 1 to 2 miles each session. By the end of the workshop, students will have created multiple artworks using walking as a form of art. The final meeting will be online for review and critique.

Instructor Bio: Minoosh Zomorodinia is an Iranian-born interdisciplinary artist who makes visible the emotional and psychological reflections of her mind's eye inspired by nature.
