This 3-hour in-person workshop is an introductory course on collage and poetry. Students will create visual poems through a series of surrealist games and linguistic strategies. We will generate new meanings from found images and text by incorporating elements of chance, play, and surprise while exploring a variety of art-making materials, including acrylic paint, pastels, ink, and paper. Participants will dive into the fantastical through automatic drawing and writing techniques as well as fragmentation. Students will have the opportunity to build new worlds, craft surprising stories, and unlock hidden dimensions. Enrollment includes a $15 materials fee. No experience necessary!
