Sculptural drawing is a fully synchronized 5-day workshop that digs into the materials and textures of drawing, emphasizing tactility, surface and dimensionality. Students will explore different methods of drawing that go beyond the conventions of pencil to paper, such as frottage, grattage, and chigiri-e. The instructor will begin every workshop with a demonstration of different techniques. workshop time will be dedicated to you to familiarize yourself with these methods and for experimentation. By engaging mark making, materials and process, students can invigorate and re-discover drawing. This workshop creates a broad foundation for further drawing explorations. All levels welcome- no previous experience required!
Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. A device to capture images (digital camera, smart phone, or tablet, etc.) is helpful, but not required.
