Full course description
Making It Up Crumb Quilt Blocks
Saturday, 3/8/2025, 10:00am-4:00pm
Location: John Adams Center, room 312
Instructor: Lorraine Woodruff-Long
Do you have fabric scraps you can’t bear to toss and want to find a creative way to use them? This is the class for you! Crumb quilt blocks are small, patchwork pieces created from small scraps of fabric, often referred to as “crumbs.” These fabric bits, which are often too small to use in traditional quilting, are sewn together randomly to form unique and colorful blocks. The resulting blocks can be used to construct a larger quilt or project. Crumb quilt blocks are a great way to embrace creativity, reduce waste, and enjoy the art of quilting in a laid-back, playful manner. Instructor will provide small baggies of fabric scraps for $5.
Materials List:
- • 3-4 handfuls of miscellaneous fabric scraps, large or small, strips or weirdly cut cast offs. Quilting cotton, shirting, or any woven (not knit) fabric. Bring your scraps – even the very small pieces! A bin of some scraps for the class to access will be provided – please bring your scraps to share!
- • Sewing Machine
- • Neutral thread
