Instructor: Katie Leavens
Known for smooth and quick writing, Louis Madarasz naturally developed a unique style of writing we now call Madarasz Script. It is great for titles, adding emphasis to your writing, & addressing envelopes. Legend has it that this style even inspired the Coca Cola logo’s flourishes. This script is characterized by bold shades which are written quickly. In this class, we will study Madarasz’s pointed pen style and his unique flourishes that pair with it. By the end of the workshops, students will be able to understand what makes Louis Madarasz’s style different from other copperplate styles & write in that style. This workshop is open to all students; beginners and continuing letterers are welcome!
Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. A device to capture images (digital camera, smart phone, or tablet, etc.) is helpful, but not required.
