Journey into Children's Book Publishing
Thursdays, 10/8-11/12/2026, 10:00-11:30am.

Take the first steps into the world of publishing! This is an introduction class for aspiring children’s book writers and illustrators looking to publish their work. Topics covered will include: types of publishers, the publishing process, how to get an agent, tips for submitting your work, what makes a good website and portfolio, contract basics, and more. With grounded and realistic advice, you will leave with an actionable plan and the clarity to pursue your publishing dreams.
Students will need a computer with a wifi connection and Zoom installed.
Things to note: Please plan to join on Zoom in real time, as sessions will not be recorded. The focus of this class is the business side of children’s books. For learning about the craft side, please join “Writing and Illustrating Children’s Books” in the Spring.
Instructor Bio:
Diana Toledano is an illustrator, writer and educator with 10 published books and over a decade of experience. She is also a Pisces who loves books, patterns, and dancing her heart out.
Diana enjoys playing with different techniques to create detailed mixed media illustrations. Originally from Spain, she now lives in Northern California with her little bilingual family and two cats.
