Wednesdays, Oct 28, Nov 4, Nov 18 (classes two weeks apart), 6-9pm
Location: John Adams Center, room 312
Instructor: Lorraine Woodruff-Long
Using small, sample-sized pieces, learn the elements of basting a quilt, hand and machine quilting, and creating and implementing various binding techniques to finish a quilt. We’ll cover all the basics in a simple, approachable class format.
This class is for you if:
- You’ve made or have on hand a completed quilt top but don’t know what to do next to finish it
- You’re an experienced quilter who wants to expand your skill set
- You have a quilt top and want to work on completion in a space with plenty of room to spread out
- You want to meet other creators and quilters in a fun, low-key learning environment!
Materials List:
• Students must provide and know the basics of their own working sewing machine
• A quilt top: A small-ish piece of fabric that you'd like to use in class to quilt. (suggested sizes = baby-quilt, table runner, placemat. Can be bigger if you're up for it!) You can use a pieced quilt top or a single whole piece of cloth.
• Fabric for back of quilt that is at least 3-4 inches larger all around the perimeter of the top.
• Cotton batting that is at least 3-4 inches larger all around the perimeter of the top.
• 1 yard of fabric to use for binding your quilt
