Denim Quilts- Two Different Ways

Location: John Adams Center, Room 312

Learn two simple ways to use repurposed jeans, denim and leftover fabric scraps. Join us and you’ll upcycle these sturdy materials to make a memorable quilt. We’ll cover rag quilt squares and circle gems in this fun, one day workshop. Bring your machine, thread, and some jeans, canvas and other heavier clothes you have retired from your wardrobe!

Materials List:
  • At least 2 yards repurposed denim (about 4-5 pairs of deconstructed denim jeans)
  • Approximately 2 yards of various multicolored fabrics (flannel and woven cotton.) 
  • Your own working sewing machine with jeans/denim needle. 
  • Polyester all-purpose sewing machine thread.
  • Scissors
  • Cutting mat, Rotary Cutter
  • Acrylic Ruler of your choice - ideally 3"x18" or so
Instructor Bio:
Lorraine Woodruff-Long is a self-taught quilter with a primary focus on color, improvisation, and recycled/repurposed fabrics. Her work has been juried into shows at the de Young Museum/San Francisco, the California Heritage Museum/Santa Monica, the International Quilt Festival/Houston, QuiltCon, and the Sanchez Art Center/Pacifica, among others.
