This workshop will demystify printmaking by giving you the opportunity to view rare and historical prints and view demonstrations of printmaking techniques. You will go behind the scenes at important print collections, including the Achenbach Foundation and Mission Gráfica, and your instructor will walk you through these techniques in separate sessions. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the instructor and curators in real time during these synchronous (live) sessions.
By the end of the workshop the student will be able to: identify print techniques by eye, have a working knowledge of printmaking terms, have a broad understanding of printmaking history.
Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. A device to capture images (digital camera, smart phone, or tablet, etc.) is helpful, but not required.
Materials List:
An optional kit of printmaking supplies for printing at home will be made available to order 2 weeks before the start of class, cost should not exceed $50.
