Plein Air Painting

4/11-5/9/2026, Saturdays, 10:00am-1:00pm

Location: Golden Gate Park- locations will be announced in advance

Instructor Mittie Cuetara

No matter your skill level, painting outdoors can be intense, challenging, and exhilarating! Each week we will choose an area of Golden Gate park, and develop our painting skills while enjoying the outdoors and a supportive community.

Each class will begin with a simple acrylic demo on techniques such as; composition, proportion, perspective , color choices, light logic and shade/shadows. There will be plenty of work time, with optional sharing and discussion at the end of each class. Painters of all levels are welcome, as there is always more to learn. Enrollmnet includes a $15 materials fee. 

Materials list

Required materials: Basic paint colors, Red, blue, yellow, green, black, white Small, medium, large brushes Palette paper, or palette Stretched canvas, or canvas board Paper and pen/pencil for sketching Plastic water container for rinsing brushes Rags Tripod, or easel Seat, if wanted

Additional materials: Prussian blue, pthalo blue, lemon yellow, medium yellow, hookers green, titanium white, red and black. Bristle brushes

Instructor Bio: Mittie Cuetara is an Oakland artist working in acrylics and mixed media. She has a BFA from the Boston Museum School and an MFA from Mills. She has shown in juried shows across California. Visit her website at mittiecuetara.net.
