Plein Air Painting
Thursdays, 6/15-7/6/2023, 10:00am-1:00pm
Location: In-person, off campus
Instructor: Tom Colcord and Alexandra Bailliere
Each class will meet at a new location so that we can paint different landscapes. Meeting locations with links to maps and a suggested materials list will be emailed two weeks before the first class meeting.
Instructor's Bios:
Tom Colcord is a painter and art educator currently living in San Francisco California. Originally from Indianapolis Indiana, Tom holds a BFA in Painting from Indiana University Bloomington and an MFA in studio art from the San Francisco Art Institute. His work ranges in style from surrealist murals, plein air painting and pixel art. Tom currently works as the Bay Area Representative for Dixon Ticonderoga and Strathmore paper, and teaches art for the SFAI City Studio Program and Artworks. He was the 2021-22 recipient of the Tournesol Award at the Headlands Center for the Arts. Most days, he can be found painting en plein air in Golden Gate Park.
Alexandra Bailliere is a visual artist and art instructor in the Bay Area. She teaches art in continuing education at College of Marin, City Extension SF and at Ruth's Table, a non-profit intergenerational art space in San Francisco. Bailliere makes observational paintings of the world around her. Her work has been presented at Root Division, the Worth Ryder Gallery at UC Berkeley, the Mills College Art Museum, the Palo Alto Art Center, the Berkeley Art Center, the Sanchez Art Center and Five Points Arts in Torrington, Connecticut.
