Loose and Lively Portraits

The portrait in art can be so much more than rendering a face! While learning to draw fast, loose and expressive portraits, this course will also help students to understand the basic construction of the face and its features. Working from ourselves and each other, we’ll explore different art materials, like charcoal and watercolor, and end our final class with a fully rendered portrait. No previous painting or drawing experience is required.

Workshops are taught online through Zoom and Canvas. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. A device to capture images (digital camera, smart phone, or tablet, etc.) is helpful, but not required.
