Instructor: Joyce Nojima

Come explore some of the best art museums that SF has to offer with me! For three consecutive Saturday mornings we will observe and recreate historic art collections with our sketchbooks and pencils. We will learn from the masters by following their marks. Through this process, we will also cover the basics of drawing, such as value, shading, proportion, and composition. All levels are welcome!
 
Materials List:
Sketchbook (No smaller than 5" x 8")
Pencils (2B, 2H, HB, 4B)
Kneaded Eraser
Plastic Eraser
Sharpener
Colored Pencils (White, Light Brown, Dark Brown, & Blue)
Ruler
Stump (Optional)
Bag or Container to carry all your materials

Instructor bio: Joyce Nojima is a second-generation Japanese-American from Santa Rosa, California. Joyce has exhibited her site-specific installations at Bay Area Children's Discovery Museum, CuriOdyssey, West Coast Craft, and Lumiére Arts Festival in Nova Scotia, Canada. Her work has been shown at Root Division, Headlands Center for the Arts, Berkeley Art Center, Southern Exposure, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, and San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. She received her B.A. in Art Practice from UC Berkeley and her MFA at UC Davis. She was a Graduate Fellow and Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts. She is currently an art educator at SF City College, SF City Extension, Ruth's Table, and is a Teaching Artist in Residence at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
