This workshop balances traditional techniques with new possibilities in color work by using both traditional and handmade watercolor to make color wheels. The morning session teaches color mixing and the creation of a color wheel with from-the-tube watercolors. The afternoon session teaches students how to make their own watercolors with plant and mineral-based pigment. Using these unique, natural paints we create a new color wheel reflecting our time and place. Emphasis is on experimentation, skills, and fun. Students come away with knowledge of how to make basic watercolors and some tools for continuing their exploration at home.

Enrollment fee includes $25 materials fee for supplies provided by the instructor
