Full course description

Location: Amtrak and Reno
Instructor: Bronwyn Emery
Come ride the rails with us! Take your writing on the road as we travel by train from Emeryville to Reno for our writing retreat. This writing retreat is an intensive, immersive experience that offers 15+ hours of structured writing time across four days. It’s the ideal environment for making significant progress on your short story or novel. Included are several discussions about writing with other writers on the retreat, access to the writing coach, an optional 30-minute private 1:1 session with her, and three opportunities to share your work with the group for positive feedback. Bonus: November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which doubles down on inspiration, motivation, accountability, and support for writers working on large projects.
On this retreat, you will learn the value of scheduling timed writing blocks for yourself in your everyday life, how to set realistic expectations around how much you can write on a long weekend, where your strengths lie, and how to embrace your creative identity.
Ideally, you will have completed the Fiction that Resonates online workshop to give you a head start and advantage on the retreat, but it is not a pre-requisite.
Workshop fee includes:
Roundtrip travel from Emeryville to Reno on Amtrak, car service from Reno Amtrak to/ from hotel
3 nights single accommodation at the Peppermill Reno Resort
Shared writing suite
Dinner together one night, snacks
