Programming Circuits Lab

Monday-Friday, 6/27-7/15/2022, 11:00am-1:30pm, online (no class week of 7/4)

Instructor: Alex Roberts

Learn the basics of programming circuits using the Arduino IDE (free software), including analog and digital pins, variables, inputs, outputs and loops. Learn about basic circuit diagrams and how to measure voltage, current and resistance by turning your computer into a multimeter. Verify circuit laws like Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Law. Get to know how capacitors and diodes work, learn about alternating current, and use your knowledge to read an oscilloscope output. Learn to work with sensors (input) to drive buzzers and LEDs (output). Finally, spend a day learning about magnetism and watch demos (virtually) of live experiments at City College.

Materials list:
Students will use a circuit kit that's available in 2 parts, that students need to purchase separately for the class. (see here and here).

Class format: Directed Lab Environment via Zoom
Prerequisites: None
Difficulty: Medium
