Create Your First 3D Model with Blender

Monday-Friday, 6/27-7/1/2022, 9:00am-11:30am, online

Instructor: David Hurwich

Are you interested in creating your own digital 3D model? 3D models are used in areas such as video games, industrial design and architecture. This workshop is aimed at beginners looking to get their feet wet in the fun world of 3D modeling. This will be a live synchronous course that teaches students the 3D modeling techniques that professionals in the industry use such as polygon modeling, digital materials, UV mapping and digital lights and cameras. The workshop will use the free, but powerful, 3D modeling software Blender.

At the end of the workshop students will have produced their own sophisticated 3D model. Students will also get final tips and feedback from a special guest professional 3D model artist during the last class session. Students will learn how to insert their model into a free working video game and be able to interact with the model in the game world!

This will be a live synchronous course. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device.  They will also need to install the free cross-platform 3D application Blender and the free cross-platform game Super Tux Kart.
