Build Your Own Game with Unity3D
Monday-Friday, 7/18-7/22/2022, 9:00am-11:30am, online

Do you love games? Have you ever thought of creating your own? This workshop is aimed at beginners looking to get their feet wet in the fun world of game design and game engines using one of the most popular game engines Unity3D. This will be a live synchronous course that teaches students the basics of the game design and game engines. Topics covered include asset management, world building, game materials, colliders, physics, lighting and cameras, game sound / music, adding game code and how to export a working game file.
At the end of the workshop students will have produced their own simple game that can exported and played! Students will also get final tips and feedback from a special guest game designer during the last class session.
This will be a live synchronous course. Students will need a computer or smart phone with webcam and microphone, internet and web streaming capacity, and the Zoom application installed to their device. They will also need to install the free cross-platform application Unity3D.
Instructor Bio: David Hurwich is a professional interaction designer and instructor. He has done contract animation / motion graphics for KQED, the WB channel and other television outlets. He is currently runs the online FAST channel Kaboom! Which is dedicated to short form animation.
In addition to his professional work he is an instructor with almost fifteen years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level. He has taught design and animation at University of California - Davis, California College of the Arts, SAE Expression College, City College of San Francisco and others.
