Cl# VT100L Vicarious Trauma: Self-Care and Self Awareness 6 CEUs
Instructor: Natalia Estassi, PsyD
Thursday, December 12, 2024 9 AM – 4 PM
Location: Online via Zoom
Mental health care providers who work with grief, loss and trauma, often hear detailed stories about the unfair, undeserved and often unimaginable traumatic experiences that their youth and families have endured. As a result, we are at risk for vicarious trauma, also known as secondary traumatization, secondary stress disorder, or insidious trauma. Vicarious Trauma can not only have a negative impact on providers, but on client care. Explore techniques to maintain appropriate self-disclosure when working with foster youth and their families. Learn how to create self-awareness in recognizing symptoms related to VT. Understand the difference between being burnout and stressed out. Discuss the importance of self-care, boundaries, and positive role modeling. Create your own self care plan, to best prevent VT. This class will include lecture, discussion and
experiential exercises. This is a class you cannot afford to miss! Come take care of you so you can continue to care for others.
