Full course description

This training offers a space to explore how meaning-making, values, and cultural identity can support a sustainable professional path when working with system-involved youth. Most people didn’t grow up thinking spirituality had anything to do with social services work, paperwork, or holding it together in a team meeting. Shoshana Phoenixx brings decades of experience in multicultural grief and trauma care, chaplaincy, and youth advocacy to teach spiritual tools, practices, and reflection techniques drawn from many cultural and spiritual traditions. Participants will engage with creative practices and shared dialogue to explore how their values influence their presence in the work, how they might support the identity development of system-involved youth, and how to bring these practices back into their teams to strengthen cohesiveness. Objectives • Identify at least two ways personal beliefs or values influence support for system-involved youth and families • Describe at least one spiritual or cultural practice that can improve engagement with system-involved youth during stress, crisis, or transition • Apply at least two reflection or meaning-making strategies in daily work with system-involved youth to increase connection and reduce burnout.
