Full course description

This interactive 4-hour Zoom-based workshop invites professionals to step into the real-world experiences of disabled, system-involved youth through structured, sensory-informed activities. Participants will engage in roleplay, movement, and creative arts-based exercises that reveal how common service environments can become disorienting, inaccessible, or even hostile to those with sensory, cognitive, or communication differences—especially for youth navigating child welfare, juvenile justice, or special education systems. In addition to participating in these exercises, attendees will learn how to adapt and facilitate them in their own teams or trainings to foster deeper understanding and shift organizational culture. This workshop centers disability as a lens for justice—not pity—and supports participants in practicing empathy as a skill, not a sentiment.
