It's important for social service providers to understand how trauma impacts one's emotional and social development as well as learn strategies to help foster emotional intelligence. We will focus on enhancing youth self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathy, while preventing provider burnout through active stress-management and compassionate care techniques. Participants will be able to describe emotional intelligence to youth and young adults on their caseloads. Providers will be able to identify and implement at least 1 strategy to foster emotional intelligence in regard to social awareness and self-management.
