Understanding Personality Disorders with Transitional Age Youth System-involved young adults experience many challenges as a result the trauma and adversity they’ve experienced. Some transitional age youth are labeled as having a personality disorder early on in their life. So, it’s crucial for social service providers to have an accurate understanding of personality disorders in order to discern if the youth actually has a personality disorder and to support them in the most effective manner. This training will provide an overview of personality disorders as well as strategies to support someone struggling with one. 1. Participants will be able to identify one characteristic of borderline personality disorder 2. Participants will be able to identify one characteristic of antisocial personality disorder 3. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 strategy to support someone with borderline personality disorder.
