To effectively work with system-involved youth it's necessary to involve their parents. However, many social service and behavioral health providers can struggle to work with their parents. In this training, you will learn strategies to enhance engagement with parents. With increased parental involvement, parents have the ability to learn how to effectively support the youth in their care, have opportunities to get involved in their own therapy, collaborate with the clinician about current behaviors, etc.
1. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 barrier to supporting parents of system-involved youth
2. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 way parents can be stigmatized
3. Participants will be to identify at least 1 strategy to engage youth’s parents
