Full course description

Through a blend of didactic instruction, reflective exercises, and case studies participants will strengthen their competence in working with diverse youth. Special emphasis is placed on ethical practice, traumainformed care, and affirming approaches that support the unique experiences of foster youth and system-involved youth. Attendees will leave with practical tools to assess and address sexuality-related issues in a way that promotes safety, dignity, and healing for the young people they serve. The material will be delivered by PowerPoint presentation, short video clips, group discussion, breakout (small group) discussions and participant workbook (handout). Class Objectives: · Identify at least 5 physiological and psychological factors that influence sexual development across the lifespan of system-involved youth · Explain the definitions and at least 2 distinctions between sexual orientation and gender. · Distinguish between 4 types of sexual dysfunctions as defined by the DSM-5-TR and determine appropriate care practices for each
