Full course description

Course Description: This training will equip child welfare social workers with a foundational and practical understanding of the Juvenile Dependency Court system. Participants will explore the legal framework that governs dependency proceedings, gain an insight into the Juvenile Dependency different court hearings, including the roles of key stakeholders, the timelines of the court hearings, and the responsibilities of social workers throughout the court process.
By attending this training, participants will:
Understand the function of the juvenile dependency court.
Acquire an overview of the purpose and procedures of each type of dependency court hearing, from the initial hearing through dismissal or permanent placement.
Understand the roles and responsibilities of the child welfare worker and all other parties in the court process.
